Photo Shoot!

My very talented co-worker does photography on the side and was nice enough to take photos of Brendan and me to build up her portfolio. All of the pictures came out beautifully, but here are my top 10 favorites (which was really hard to do!). In no particular order:

Another month, another road trip

We spent the weekend visiting Aunt Lauren and Aunt Sharon. It was a lot of fun and Brendan enjoyed spending time with his Aunties. He even got to go swimming in a big pool again, and float in a cool car that Lauren bought. Brendan is one lucky little boy!

Road trip!

Last week Brendan and I made a trip upstate with Aunt Lauren, Grandma Annie and Grandpa Charlie to visit family we haven't seen in almost 15 years. It was a five hour road trip and I was totally freaking out about how Brendan was going to handle being couped up in his car seat for so long. He slept for a total of 15 minutes on the ride up. That's right folks, 15 minutes. 10 minutes on the way from Grandma's house to Mimi's house to drop off Gizmo and then another 5 or so later on.

We stopped for lunch about halfway through at a Cracker Barrel. Seated at the table behind us was an older woman, presumably in her 70s, having lunch by herself. The little heartbreaker twisted himself around in his highchair and blew her kisses, two at a time. Can he possibly get any cuter?

In all, he did remarkably well on both the trip there and back. The few instances where he looked like he might pitch a fit I just tossed some food or a toy his way and he forgot all about his furor at being strapped in for hours on end. Although, he clearly had the most comfortable seat in the car. Those Britax carseats are like Lazy Boy recliners with their plush padding and recline position.

We had a great time seeing everyone and my cousin's three boys had Brendan totally enthralled. (On a side note: I am now 100% sure that two kids are way more than enough for me!) Their dogs also provided some entertainment, although if Brendan could speak (in English) I'm sure he would tell you that it wasn't the good kind of entertainment. The smaller of the two couldn't get enough of B and would run over to him and lick the crap out of his face. I'm pretty sure he gave B his first tongue kiss experience.

Oh! Brendan took his first few steps while we were away. And I completely missed them. From where I was sitting I could only see the top half of him so I thought he was holding onto his cousin when he was walking. All of a sudden everyone started cheering and clapping. Apparently he let go and took 2 or 3 steps before he realized he wans't holding on to anything. I ran to get the video camera and he wouldn't do it again. My son is in daycare so I understand that I will miss some of his firsts. But COME ON, I was right there!!! Unbelievable.
